Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) is a road-map for juniors from 6 to 18+ years of age, based on age-appropriate skill acquisition, with more complicated and specialized movement patterns introduced as the junior progresses to the next level of development.

Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) combine two or more body segments. Examples include locomotion, stability, object control and body awareness. Progressing beyond these skills prematurely inhibits full athletic potential.

Functional Movement Patterns are created with fitness training that focuses on stability and mobility through a full range of body motion. These patterns are promoted through supervised sport specific and cross training.

Transition to Fundamental Sport Skills (FSS) generally occurs near the onset of the main growth spurt. Developing a broad sense of FMS and FSS help juniors become better athletes.

RSX wrist band classification system

According to various sources, originally, Karate students didn't get belts at all. Rather, they received a scroll when they reached another level of skill. It was Jigoro Kano who introduced belts by giving Black Belts to two of his students.

After that, a Karate student received just one belt at the beginning of his training and he dyed it darker with each level reached. There are many theories associated with this practice. For example, some say the belts started out white and were allowed to get darker with time until they were black, signifying the length of time a person had been studying Karate.

To that end, the PhysiCore RSX Junior Performance Training program uses an advanced series of graded fitness tests. The total number of passed proficiencies will determine what wrist band color the junior earns. Each junior, regardless of chronological age, must enroll in the RSX program and go through the screening process to optimize training experience.
